The Last Pillow of the Series?

This may be the last pillow before we leave but you never know. Snow makes a perfect background for pillow photos.

I accidentally used one of my two way purse zippers on the back. I didn't notice until I was all finished. It will stay there for now but if I ever need it for a purse, I'll have to take the whole pillow apart to get it out.

Another Pillow

Since we are leaving in a few days, I don't want to start any big projects. Hence, another pillow. This one has a rose made using Shiva paintsticks in the middle. The pink border is outlined with black piping. The back is the gray polka dot with a pink zipper. Pillows are a great way to use up scraps of batting but they probably wouldn't be very comfortable to use for more than decoration.

Pillow Number Three

I couldn't resist making one more pillow. It's a great way to get rid of leftover scraps of batting.
I have decided that snow is the perfect background for quilt pictures. I should really do a big session and photograph all my quilts outside.

Pillow Number Two

Here is the second pillow for the pillow contest I mentioned in the last post. You can enter two so I thought I'd do one without words. The center is hand dyed fabrics with tiny pompoms. It doesn't show in the picture but the pompoms glitter with gold and silver. The rickrack also has gold in it. I remember now why I seldom miter corners. This pillow is about 17 inches square.

Word Play

I pre-ordered this book back in October and it finally came today. It's an inspiring book whether you are new at free piecing words or an old hand at it.

Pillow Contest

Sew Mama Sew is having a pillow making contest that has an iron as first prize. I thought I'd enter the Words to Live By contest. It's good practise with wonky letters. This is what I have so far. I'll be doing quite a lot more embellishing. I'm thinking more yoyos might do the trick. Or beads... The yoyos in the picture are not sewn on. I'll be playing a lot more with the placement.
Voting has started on the Love Nest Quilt Contest. Be sure to pop over and vote for your favorite.

Feed Sacks

A friend gave me a bunch of these feed sacks that have never been sewn up into bags. I see many possibilities...

This is my new toy. I got it for our trip to Australia. Now to learn how to use it and to download a couple of books.

Moon and Stars Quilt

I have been very lax about posting lately but not much work is being done in the studio. We leave for Australia in two weeks so I have been spending quite a bit of time getting organized for that. I did manage to finish quilting this one today using silver thread again. I am binding it with a burgundy. I debated between that and the blue of the sashing. The decision was made for me when I measured the blue piece of fabric and found that there was not nearly enough of it to go all the way around the quilt. The quilt is now hanging over the railing in the house waiting to be hand sewn down. I'll have to find something good on TV.

Stars and Moons

Today I stenciled on some stars and moons. I think it softens the turquoise a bit. I have a large piece of snow dye that should fit the back. I will probably quilt this one with silver thread like the last one. I had thought I'd use gold but now that it's done I think silver will work better.

None of the Above

None of the borders really did it for me so I snow dyed another piece of fabric and used it. I like it better than any of the other choices. Also all the fabric is now hand dyed.
Now I want to do some stenciling on the blue sashing to soften the grid look. I will probably use the moon and stars stencils again. Another option would be some sort of Yoga images because this will probably be used for relaxing under at the end of Yoga classes. Any brilliant ideas out there?
