Let the Games Continue

Here's when I'm at right now. The left side is sewn together as far as the blue strip on the right side of the green piece. I'll make more tassels and dangles. I am auditioning binding fabric, which explains the red strip on the left, but at this point I'm leaning toward a dark brown like the piece on the upper right. Or I could do an envelope. I've never tried that technique so maybe it's time.

I know that winter has arrived here because we got stuck in the wet slippery snow last night on our way out the lane. Our neighbour helped us out but we left the car at the end of the lane when we came home. We decided it would be easier to get it in the lane in daylight. Oh the joys of winter!

Winter Wonders

Today the sun is shining again after a couple of days of snow. It is really a winter wonderland out there and hunting season is over so we can go out and enjoy it without the fear of being shot at.
The picture is of the trail we have made walking to our studio. It's only -16 and not windy at all so it will be a great afternoon for a walk.

I started loading the next quilt on the frame, trying to correct the numerous loading mistakes I made on the first one. The front of the finished one looks all right but the back is pretty lumpy and wavy around the borders. I'll put a binding on it anyway and it can live in the car for the winter or on the couch.

Winter

Since I finished piecing the Crimson Forest, I'm still waiting for the stitch regulator and it started snowing today, it seemed the right time to start a winter quilt. I am still in the early planning stages but I pulled out my blues and pastels and whites. I want to do one with low contrast and cold colors. I did find a hand dye that reminded me of the Northern Lights but I'm not sure if I will use it. I'll have to see how it goes with whatever else I come up with. The frost word is on a bit of the fabric I bought for the duvet cover. It reminded me of frost on a window pane when I first saw it. Maybe the word doesn't show up much but I want it to be very subtle. That's why I'm not sure about the spiral Northern Lights. I may try to dye another one using ice blue and turquoise.

I have the backing made for several tops that have been waiting in line so when I get the stitch regulator (hopefully Friday or Monday) I'll be able to wade right into them.

Edit: It has just been pointed out to me that Borealis is spelled wrong. No worries. It's not sewn down. Spelling was never my strong suit. I used red letters because my face is red.
