The Other Mistake

This is the other mistake that I discovered after it was all put together. The dark blue should form a U shape and the yellow triangle should be against the gray. Sigh. It's going to be quite a project to correct it but I will give it a try today. If it messes up too much there will be some appliqued flowers appearing here and there, especially there.
Oh no! I just found another even worse mistake on the boxes! I can see that my work is cut out for me for the next few days.

Puzzle Solved

I now realize what happened to leave me with two blocks the same side by side. There is one more block with orange on the outside. That means that I should have started with the opposite color. I realized that when I put the first set of blocks up on the design wall but when I put up the final arrangement, I was concerned with getting the middle blocks upright. There are little birds on some of them and I wanted them all facing the same way. If that explanation is not clear go back a couple of days and see how it looked with only the first set of blocks. The only way to correct this one would be to take every single block apart. Not gonna happen. This will have to be my Amish mistake.
I have most of it sewn together now and have to start thinking about the binding. The quilting is going to have to be some sort of motif in the middle of the blocks because there are so many layers where all the points meet that it would be very difficult to quilt, especially given that there is all that dry glue there too. I can barely get a pin through it.
By the way, in case you can't find it, the mistake is on the lower right hand corner.

Oops!

I was all ready to start quilting Maggie's Farm. I put it on the design wall to look at it from a distance to help decide what I should do for the quilting. As soon as I looked at it I saw a big mistake. Yes, I forgot to put the orange inner border on the bottom. Don't ask me how that happened. Now I have to remove the brown border, add the orange and then of course the brown side borders will be too short so I'll have to add a piece to them. They are already pieced so I'll have to decide whether to take the piece off and add a longer one or just add a couple of inches to the one that's already there. It will probably look better to rip back and add a whole new piece. The added piece is not that long so it won't be a lot of ripping back.
It is strange how you don't see things until you step back. What would I do without my design wall????
