Wonky Quilting
I have finished quilting the Wonky Log Cabin. It's a good thing the blocks are wonky because the quilting is certainly wonky. I marked the star on the front but the pattern was so busy that I couldn't see my marks properly. After the first round I quilted it from the back. In the squares between the points of the stars I used a pattern by Keryn Emmerson from her book Beautiful Quilts as you Go. The quilting is moderately successful but a bit lumpy in the middle. Luckily the quilting is mostly hidden by the wild colors on the front of the quilt. I have cut the binding but still have to sew the pieces together, iron it and sew it on. The end is in sight!

That is a very nice looking quilt, Joyce.
Did you quilt it by machine?
I just quilt my efforts with my Janome sewing machine, which is about 14 years old, with a walking foot, so I dont manage anything too fancy. Nor am I very good at meander quilting. As to hand quilting- only on small projects like cushions or small wallhangings.
Looks fantastic -- I love the quilting pattern you chose.
Nice Job....Your quilting is great...I like the Wonky Log Cabin Pattern....Have a good weekend..Toni
Congrats on the completed quilting. I like your choice of quilting pattern. Don't you feel there's a bit of humor in doing a more traditional quilting pattern on a liberated quilt? I like it!
the quilting really suits the front... a nice compliment as both are "traditional" in basis, but a little more "liberated" in execution :-)
good for you getting all the quilting done. I like the way you've quilted it.
The wonky log cabin turned out great! I like the scrappiness of it too. :)
Well, I think it's just lovely Joyce. Wonderful quilt!

Well done Joyce - a little bit more creative than stitch in the ditch! And less lumpy too!
What a great result Joyce !! I just read the book from Gwen Marston . And I am inspired by this kind of quilts :-)
I love your Wonky Log Cabin, they always make me smile. Nice quilting too, that's a lovey pattern.
Joyce, I love the wonky log cabin layout working into a star! Great quilt! I want to make a wallhanging in Christmas colors of the log cabin star variation.
It is looking great! I think we tend to be our own worst critics because we have been looking and looking at every 1/4" of our projects! Any other person looking at the top will say it is perfect! The quilting pattern is really nice!!!
Cheers!
Evelyn
