Oops!

I was all ready to start quilting Maggie's Farm. I put it on the design wall to look at it from a distance to help decide what I should do for the quilting. As soon as I looked at it I saw a big mistake. Yes, I forgot to put the orange inner border on the bottom. Don't ask me how that happened. Now I have to remove the brown border, add the orange and then of course the brown side borders will be too short so I'll have to add a piece to them. They are already pieced so I'll have to decide whether to take the piece off and add a longer one or just add a couple of inches to the one that's already there. It will probably look better to rip back and add a whole new piece. The added piece is not that long so it won't be a lot of ripping back.
It is strange how you don't see things until you step back. What would I do without my design wall????

You are so lucky to have a design wall! I quite often dont see things till I take a photo- then things stand out like you-know-what!
Maggies Farm is looking very good, regardless of what you decide to do about the missing link!

I don't know, I think I would probably just leave it. Sure does add character to another great quilt.

I've had a quilt on the design wall for at least a month. I finally sewed all the blocks in a row.....then I discovered the pieced block with a mistake.........irritating, truly irritating!

oh, c'mon. say to yourself "what would Gwen Marston do?" She wouldn't rip it all apart I bet. It looks great as it is. If you really want orange down at the bottom, then just add it now. remember, improvisation.

I agree with Tonya - add a little orange border to the bottom outside the dark brown - be tru to your Maverick status! Mind you Joyce it is your quilt - you do what you feel most comfortable with :-) either way it's looking great, I take it the 'hell hath no fury' famer's wife failed the audition then :o)

Oh, another fun piece -- I'm going to have to go with the other comments of I would just leave it. It doesn't "read" as something that jars the eyes, but then again, I'm lazy.

Oh poop Joyce! Well I would just leave it. The thought of all that undoing would do my head in! I think it looks great the way it is.

In the words of Roseann Roseannadanna---it's always a'somethin' !!! If it were me, I'd leave it as is. It looks wonderful!

I would probably just leave it. It doesn't look unbalanced and I would have never noticed if you hadn't pointed it out.

Gosh, I never noticed it until you mentioned it! Glad that you are leaving it as is and your grandson will adore it however you finish it.

Yes, it works well without the orange inner border. Leaving it out add an element of ambiguity ... in my book that'a a good thing.
The barbed wire fabric looks great. I'm pleased you were able to use it.

I think it's great with the missing border! Like a red barn top and sides almost. It doesn't need a floor. :)
