When in doubt go with the brightest. At least that seems to have become my motto. I went for the multi-colored polka dots on black. I like the look but it won't be a quilt that soothes you to sleep. I have to shop for batting and backing before I finish it.
I tried to work on FM quilting on my farm animals but the bobbin thread kept breaking. I'm not sure if it's my speed or faulty thread. It was frustrating and I may have to take another break from it.

It came out great! Congrats for getting it together so soon.
this top is looking great! Hope you're able to solve the bobbin problem quickly :-)
Yes, I like the darker sashings - it contains and emphasizes the blocks perfectly! Have you tried a different bobbin loaded with the same thread? Sometimes it might wind incorrectly (too tight) and break as you are quilting FM.
Bobbin tension problems I find are always difficult to fix.
I love the way that quilt looks with the dark sashing, it is great. As you say, not soothing, but lovely & lively!
Ah Joyce it's looking great! There is nothing more frustrating than problems with tension! So hard to sort out.
So pleased youm went with the bubbly black, it looks great.
Enjoyed your 4th photos, great that you dress up, Tracey
The black looks great - really shows off the blocks.
It looks like the perfect quilt to wrap yourself in and watch the stars!
Looks great - you definitely made the right choice.
It looks great -- and sometimes you don't need a quilt to lull you to sleep. I've got a black/white/bright one that I call my "sick" quilt. It's the quilt I use to snuggle on the couch when I'm feeling down or ill -- helps to cheer me up!
Go bright = very fun motto. So sorry about the thread breaking issues - that kind of technical difficulty is very frustrating, makes you lose your momentum. Good luck.
Oh, Joyce, what a beauty! And the dark sashing justs sets it off! Sorry about your bobbin issues. Machine quilting is hard enough without that, huh?!? Kinda sounds like a tension thing.
Looks Great! Bright is my motto too! As long as it is comfy, anyone will be able to snuggle in it for a nap.
Good choice I think - it looks very vibrant.
