I have completed three more blocks. I am trying out the dark sashing to see how dramatic it looks. I still haven't decided which one I like best. The sashing is a bit brighter in real life. The spots are multi-colored and it seems to unite everything. I still like the white with black dots a lot too.
My two computer expert sons have launched a program that some of you quilters who are also computer types may be interested in. It is called
The Converted if you want to check it out.

This is quite dramatic! I think I like the black, makes it even more dramtic.
You're right, the black is so sparkly. Really looks nice. What does The Converted do?
Looking good!
I like this version the best. It makes your other fabrics come alive.
Whoops, I guess I sent the link to the forum. Unfortunately I used my personal spelling, 'fourm' instead of the accepted English one. So that is a dead link, but really theconverted.ca is the one.
It is sort of graphic related, it converts Flash animation to the new graphic format from Microsoft (xaml). Mom and I sometimes talk of doing a quilting program, but I think ultimately it is talent and taste, not software that matters there.
Sometimes I wonder if the freedom to experiment you get with computers prevents the hard thinking that goes into pencil design, being it is so much easier to 'undo' on a computer. If 'good taste' comes from having spent a lot of time thinking about things (I think it does), then this would be a problem. And my proof is quilting (yes, I was coming back on topic with this : ). In quilting undoing a mistake is probably harder that almost any medium that doesn't involve explosives, and the work is always beautiful and well thought out.
Anyway, if we would ever would do a quilting program, we would probably use that format. In the meantime if you want to export swf animation to native Vista code (you don't : ), then this is your tool!
Oooh I like the dark sashing Joyce! Very dramatic.
And you lost me with that software stuff :)
How wonderful! I vote for the black with the multicolored dots.
xo
It's a hard one. I think I like your final choice best.
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I have a huge collection of black and white and lots are positive/negative prints. They really do put a lot of zip into bright quilts.
I like the pattern of Karla's that you are using and I want to do that one too. Dark sashing totally separates the blocks. Have you tried a very dark purple/almost black?
I like the multi coloured polka dots. Seems to tie it all in somehow.
I know before I said I didn't have a favorite . . . but now I have to say I do like the black. I guess I am always drawn in that direction, but it sure looks good *s*
