Warming Up

I couldn't keep on with such a cold quilt so I added a nice cosy house to get warm in. I have also done a few more words. I have several more that I could make but I'm not sure how many more I can handle. I have almost hit the wall with words for now. The next thing will be trying to fit them all together into a cohesive whole.

Who would have known such a small addition would have made such a difference. Looks so nice!

It definitely needed the warm house. I kept getting cold looking at it before.

What's that old saying about a picture is worth a thousand words? I think you need more 'pictures'. Maybe a snowflake or two. Or a snowman. Even some bare trees. Mmm... I love to brainstorm.

Your quilts just make me smile ... and even give up a giggle. I love that wonky warm house.

Love the beginnings of this quilt. Been wanting to try my hand at words.....I have no doubt that you will put this together in blazing style!

How about Geminid meteor shower in dark blue starry fabric if you've got any? The house does add a warm glow to it.

It's going to be lovely Joyce, but then I would expect nothing else. Yesterday our high temps were in the 70's and they are forecasting more for the rest of the week: global warming is here for sure!

What a great project-in-the-works, Joyce! Chilly words...yet all juxtaposed with the warmth of fabric and wintery memories. Very "cool!"

If you want to see some amazing uses of color to portray cold check out the movie Orlando by Sally Potter. It was done in 1992 and is available on DVD.
She uses red and yellow and blue to amazing effect. She also uses the same colours to portray heat.
In some scenes they are the colours in the desert and in others they are the colours of a wintery cold Russia.
It's one of the most beautiful looking films I've seen.
I thought it might be inspiring for you since you love to play with colour so much when you are quilting...

The gold door looks like a fireplace! Very nice.

That is what I found to be tough ...trying to assemble all the pieces together. Trees and snowflakes came in handy for fill-ins. Great words!

Coming on well! I really like seeing all the pieces get made and arranged all the different ways on your design wall. ;)

I like this very much. The house adds a lot, and more pictures would probably be good too, but not really needed.
