Fabric Time

I decided to spend the money I made from sales at our show on fabric and sewing goodies, even though I won't actually receive the money until the show is over on June 1. Here are the fabrics I bought. This first group is from Rae-Bon in Fargo and Faye's Henhouse in Mayville, both within three hours of here.

I bought these delicious Laurel Burch fat quarters in Pennsylvania. I have always admired her designs and it seemed like a good time to get some. I'm not sure what I'll do with them. They are too nice to cut up into small pieces, so maybe bags.

These are from City Quilter in NYC. I was very jealous when I heard that Paula Nadelstern will be teaching a class there this summer. I'd love to take one of her classes.

The fashions seem to have gone back to the sixties. The problem is that if I wear those styles, people will think I just never got beyond the sixties. Lol. Maybe that's not a bad thing. I still have a couple of outfits from back then but there is no way I'd ever get into them now!

Wonderful fabric purchases! I'd love to take a class from Paula Nadelstern. They get great people at The City Quilter. My DD2 is moving to NYC this fall and you made me think that maybe I should coordinate visits to her with good quilting classes.

Great fabrics Joyce! All of them! 8-)

I think I am going to have to look for this Rae-Bon you speak of. I'm going to Fargo next week...

Funny how styles come around full circle hey!?! Well, except the styles from the 1800s! 8-)

Have a great weekend!

What lovely fabric! I always like looking at other purchases to see what I like. I have some of the Laurel Burch ones but had seen none of the others - maybe they are still making their way down under...or worse still maybe I haven't been buying fabric lately. ( still nice to drool over yours though ).

Joyce,
I love Laurel Burch fabrics - she created such funky cats and used such beautiful bright colors- so sad that she passed away at such a young age. I guess we can be grateful that she left such a fine body of work for us to enjoy.
I had the good fortune to have Paula Nadelstern give a lecture at our guild a few years ago.
She brought a trunk show of her quilts- they were stunning!! It was one of the most riveting lectures that I have ever attended. If you ever get a chance do go and see her- I am sure you will come away inspired - I know that I did..
Regards,
Anna

I'm heading to NYC in a week. Can you tell me where City Quilter is?

I like her cats too... :)

And I really like the quilt in the pic at the top of your last post, with the medallion center - looks almost like a double card-tricks, doesn't it?

I may have to try to draft that in EQ someday. ;)

Ah...but perhaps you have some granddaughters that would love your wardrobe?!

Love your fabric finds! I can't wait to see them used.

Were you ever able to find any purse-making materials: Closures, handles, etc?

Love your choices of fabrics. I too love Laurel Burch. I was lucky enough to hear her speak twice and meet her personally a few years ago. She was a strong supporter of the California Art Teachers Assoc. both as a speaker and monetarily. It was a great lose.
