More Practise

I put black thread in the needle so I could see what I was doing a bit better. The fish is a pattern from a quilting magazine that I copied out ages ago. I need to make a fishy or watery quilt to use it. I tried a bit of meandering but I think I need the stitch regulator to do that well. There is no way to regulate the speed with the machine plugged into the frame unless you have it. That makes it pretty well impossible to make even stitches. I have been concentrating on getting nice even curves and a sharp point where I want points. When using the laser pen it's also hard to know if the pattern is too wide to fit under the harp of the machine. I will have to follow the pattern with the machine not running the first time. I had the problem with the fish. That's why the bottom fin is so flat.

It looks pretty good though - even without the stitch regulator and being a first try at it.

I love the work so far on the Crimson Forrest! Looks fabulous. Sounds like I might need to get myself a blade sharpener. I probably have about 20 old blades hanging around that I could sharpen and reuse. I will look for one next time I get to Portland and Fabric Depot.

the fish are definitely identifiable -- very watery :-)

yeah Joyce! That looks like a nice set up. I think I wish I had a frame with the batting rolled on a roll. I have to roll separate pieces with my Hinterburg.

Ricki timms has a great DVD about machine quilting. If you want to learn how to do feathers, that's a great one to learn with.

Once you get practice, I bet you won't use the regulator much.

there are speed regulators and there are stitch regulators...sounds to me like the speed of your machine is more of the issue. It will all come with practice! looking great thus far ...how nice to have enough room for a frame set up.

Sounds like a lot of fun . . . just think of all the beauties that you'll be making *s*

Only you know that the bottom fin is flat. Doesn't your frame instruction or machine info tell you the maximum size of designs you can do?

Those fish look good to me. As Wanda says, the fin looks fine, if you dont know how it could be.

Joyce, good to see your having a good play with your new toys! And that your Pfaff still has some allure :)
