String Piecing

Here is a photo of some string piecing I did in hopes of reducing my huge pile of scraps. There is something very satisfying about making something beautiful from a messy pile of what looks like rags. It is not a neat task as you can see by the mess on the floor but fun to see what will look good side by side. Now I will cut them into triangles and perhaps make a bag from them. (Note to self: organize scraps instead of jamming them all into large plastic bags when cleaning.)
Meanwhile I am quilting the flower boxes that I showed in my last post and still using up leaders and enders on the Double Irish Chain. I am at the point where I need to cut a lot more 2.5 inch squares so that will be the next thing I do with my scrap pile. I wonder how many quilts are lurking in that mound of fabric?

Yep - there is a ton of fun in playing with scraps isn't there. I'm currently obsessed with them. I'm getting a queen size out out of what most people throw away - and I've barely scratched the surface.

I have only found out about string quilts in the past year and still can't believe i can get a quilt out of all the leftover pieces. Look forward to seeing what you make with your strips.

hope the bag turns out well, if the strips are any indicator it'll be gorgeous....

I love all the colors so close together. It is just like a flower garden. The flower boxes from the last post is gorgeous.

Joyce wow you have been busy in the past week! I love what you made from your scraps and then used them in the bags. Good luck in selling them. They are very nice. I'd be surprised if they don't sell.

My scraps (not that there are many yet) are all shoved in plastic bags in a box! Will have to organise them one day I suppose!
