Fun Holidays

We have three of the granddaughters here for a few days and as usual they are getting all crafty. Here is Sacha hemming her new pants, getting ready for the first day of school.

Micha and Ariana are into pottery. This is their second attempt but this time they are on their own without any instructor. It looks like they are doing very well. Ariana spent the morning working on a bag but the lining is not in yet so that will be for tomorrow's post.

I spent the morning working on a bag for Louisa. She picked out the fabrics yesterday. Doing it again I would probably reverse the pink patches with the light blue ones but it still looks pretty good to me. The special thing about it is that it was done entirely on the "new" treadle sewing machine. I cleaned and oiled it yesterday and it sews like a dream. I only had to fiddle with the tension a tiny bit, put in a new needle and away it went. It gets smoother and quieter the more I sew, as the oil gets worked it. Winding the bobbin on that thing is a real exercise though. I won't need to walk today!

Such a cute bag! You have defniitely inspired me to make one of these bags. I went out and got the fabric for one. I just need to get to it.

How fun to have such cute granddaughters that love to do crafts with you. Mine are only 3 and 4 months so I'll have to wait a little while longer to see if they'll craft and sew with me, but the 3 year old is showing very good signs of it. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Looks like you've had a good time with the granddaughters. And how fun to have sewn that very handsome purse on the treadle!

Joyce that bag pattern sure is a winner - I loved the B&W one too.

And what a great haul you bought home from the auction - pity about the firewood!!

Oh wow did you get some bargins at the auction. How wonderful to be able to start using the Singer straight off - it's a treasure.

The bags are just lovely....I have made a start on one as well. I'll show a photo when it's done. Great pattern.

You've been so busy! I haven't been around visiting in awhile...and I'm quite pleasantly overwhelmed. The purses...the preserves...all of the free motion quilting...and now your gorgeous granddaughters....

Everything sounds and looks wonderful, Joyce! You're quite an inspiration!

Looks like you are very busy still making bags!! The treadle sewing machine was such a fantastic find at $45.00 and the fact that you are sewing on it so soon - so great!! I've never sewn on a treadle machine.
