Here is the Red Hot Mamas up on the wall. I still have a couple of things I want to do. The first red hat in the top row needs a yellow line from the crown to the hat band. The red hat in the bottom row needs something but I'm not sure what. There are two hats with no decoration on the band. Although these bands are quite fancy, I am going to look for a little feather or something for each of them.
Mainly though, I am quite satisfied with it. It needs to be blocked so it will sit flat on the wall but I am going to wait until I am sure it is finished before I do that. And of course it needs a label, always the last thing I think of doing. I keep planning to quilt it into the backing but never remember in time.

Did you design read hat mamas yourself or is it a pattern? I really like it, and would love to make something similar for a Christams gift...

thanks for the reply Joyce. I'm not far from you (Winnipeg). I've done some letters, its the hats in particular I'm interested in. I'll have to play with some line drawings and see what appears...

Brilliant Joyce! It just goes so well with your saying on your blog about the chocolate in one hand and the wine in the other :o)

Looks so fun, Joyce.

I have to admit I'm inexperienced with the whole machine quilting thing, but I suspect that if you're worried about this one laying flat, it might need more quilting in the border. you have all that stippling in the middle and then not much out there - I think that'll effect how flat it'll hang.

That looks REALLY good!

And feathers will be icing on the cake. :)

Well done you Joyce. You must be so happy with it - it's come up beautifully. Good call on the binding. yellow is hard to play down!
