Half Price Fabrics
One of the fabric stores in our area is closing down at the end of December. They don't have a huge selection of quilting fabrics but what they do have is on sale at half price. I bought some today and I'm sure I'll be back before it closes. I am sad to see it go. I bought a lot of fabric there and more than one sewing machine.
After the fabric store I went to the thrift store and got three more pieces of fabric. The first one (orange flowered one) and the last two green ones are from the thrift shop. I have collected a lot of greens in the last few months so, since I have nearly finished my nine patch, I need to start thinking of what to do with them. I put a wide white border on the nine patch and am ready to start marking it. I'm not sure what I will put on the back. Maybe back to the fabric sale for that!

It always feels good to get a bargain - but it's a shame when fabric stores go out of business. There are hardly any left near where I live.
Fun fabrics. Sorry you shop is going out of business.
If the store will be gone, it makes sense to move their inventory to your stash right? :-)
What a nice haul!!! But sorry to hear of the shop closing. That seems to be happening a lot these days....
Looks like a great bunch of fabrics - and what a deal! So sad to see another fabric store closing. I've heard that the money spent on quilting has dropped in the last couple years. One wonders whether people are moving on to other hobbies or whether it's simply an indication of internet ordering and a market saturation in some places. Hopefully we won't see quilting fade it popularity any time soon - or there really will be a reason for all of us to hoard fabric!
It's sad to see a quilt shop go out of business. I always hope it's because the owner is retiring to do something fun and not because of a less than valiant effort to keep them afloat on my part *S*
It's always sad to see small businesses find the need to close. Good for you for being supportive of them in the past years though!
You've gotten yourself a nice collection of fabrics. Have fun with them!
I have never bought fabric at a thrift shop before. The nine patch quilt is looking good.
Happy Quilting!!
Lovely assortment of fabrics. We have had 3 quilt shops all go out of business around our area. Now there is only one, & I do believe it is struggling.
There is a huge chain store that sells fabric- not the highest quality, but I think economic climate/times have forced people to try to save money.
I have had many happy fabric finds, at Op Shops, & Garage sales- which are your 'Yard sales'.
Same trouble here, they are all going out of business, it's hard to even find someone to service your machine. They say no-one sews anymore-I sew!!
