Jacket Update

I had to dye the blue fabric twice, the second time with a tiny bit of black as well as more blue, and I would still prefer it alittle bit darker, but decided it was close enough. I like it much better than the black flowery fabric. I still have a couple of little mistakes to correct and binding to put on all around. I am still debating whether to put some sort of buttons on it. Since it was a sweater, there is not really enough fabric to overlap it. I could use round elastic or make tabs from cloth. Or it could be buttonless.

the blue is a wonderful change from the black flower fabric! well worth the effort to dye and redye.... I rather like the fact it isn't the same fabric as the other, adds more interest. Hope you find yourself enjoying it more now :-)

My skills in that area are significantly limited - so I would go buttonless *s*

I think I like the blue better than the flowery fabric too.

Are you the kind of person who usually buttons your jackets? I'm not. Some times if it's windy, I might fasten a button near the top. Have you thought of a little tie string, added when you bind the neck?

I might be tempted to put a detachable hood on it though, I like hoods when it's chilly, then you could do a button and loop closure right at the base of the hood. and matching buttons at the neckline to attach the hood to when you want to add it. :)

Jacket looks great with the blue.
I might like to go with tabs for closure? Or perhaps loops, with buttons?
Plenty of idea for you to ponder!

I liked this before with the dark fabric, but I love it now with the blue! And I agree about the slightly different blue adding depth and interest to it. It always fascinates me to see how simply changing one color can change the entire feel of something like that.

Joyce your jacket is wonderful!! I LOVE that blue so much better than the black floral print. The cuffs look great! I have decided to do all my jackets with the cuffs too since they are so much faster and easier than binding :) Did you line the cuffs with batting like I was thinking?

your jacket looks lovely Joyce. I think the blue does look nicer than the black floral you originally had.

The change of fabric works really well -- it brings out the other fabrics and shows off the piecing -- great jacket!
