I finished the letters on the cityscape this morning. I may have to take the Y apart and move it down a bit. It looked fine until I saw it in the photo and then it seemed to curve up too much. The border is not sewn down yet so that won't be too much trouble.
I got the jungle all pinned down this morning so I thought I'd give a try at FMQ. I tried to folllow the fern pattern in the fabric. I found out that it isn't all that easy. I tried for pebbles on the driveway. I have seen that design on lots of quilts but usually it looks quite a bit better than mine. I am looking on this whole quilt as a practise piece so if it isn't perfect, maybe it will be on the next driveway. I like the shingles but on the next one I will do the first row with chalk and then draw a line as a guide for the next rows. That way I won't end up with some huge shingles in the last corner. I also outlined the house, the window, the door and the hippo. I don't think I'll do any work on the walls of the house . They are pretty colorful already and I don't think the space is large enough that it needs to be quilted down.

This one is so nice. I love peeking in as you make the color choices too. It's fascinating to watch you "build" a quilt from start to finish.
Yes, it does look like a "hot city" at night time.
For quilting the tiles on the roofs of your other quilt. Try drawing vertical lines ... one down the center ... then divide each half with another ... and then another division. Figure out how many tiles need to go between your lines (2? 3?). Each row will have progressively larger tiles. They'll be pretty regular without being too perfect.

I like what you have done so far with the quilting on your Jungle quilt. I have really enjoyed the progress on the two quilts.

That was fun to watch it all come together and at such a pace. I like it with the large dark boder. Plenty of room for quilting in the border.
LOVE your Hot City Nights, Joyce! The fabrics are luscious...and all of the shapes of the structures are just delightful. A very fun art quilt to view and study!
I think your wonky village is a terrific avenue (ha...pun not intended...but it works!) for FMQ. You can't make a wrong turn...it's all just meant to be!
Just had a thought: Just think at the inspiration your art tourists will be blown away with this fall with all of your new pieces!

I think the quilting looks good on the roof- it wouldnt look right if it was too uniform, or perfect!
By that I mean it IS perfect for the design- well IMHO.
