A New Start

We went to the opening of Annie's Sewing Center this morning and I bought a new ironing board They had balloons with discount coupons inside and when I popped one I got 15% off. This is the first time I have ever owned a good quality ironing board and what a luxury! It is very heavy so it doesn't wobble. It's much wider than my old one and much better padded. It also has a place to put the iron so I don't have to reach over to my sewing table. I should have bought one ages ago.
Lately I have been sewing four patches together in my spare time and now I am starting to assemble them. I love the way the pattern starts to appear once you have four blocks up on the design wall. So far I have pieced 20 of the 48 I need.

I bought a new ironing board a year or so ago and felt exactly like you do -- why did I wait so long? It's such a pleasure! I like your 4-patch layout, and I love the notion of doing something in your spare time and ending up with a wonderful quilt to show for it!

Amazing how an ironing board can make you happy. I've done that too. :o)

Well done Joyce! Ours is very old, made of steel so it's very heavy and well padded. No iron rest though :)

I love what you're doing with your 4 patches. That secondary pattern is fabulous! Looking forward to seeing a bit more of this one :)

Good buy! Ours is heavy, needs a new cover and I'm trying to persuade myself that we do nee a new one. They are so much bigger these days. I suppose they have to be so we can iron those yards of fabric easily.

Nice 4 patch.

I love the way the 4 patches are going together.

Hi Joyce... I feel exactly like you do about having the same ironing board. The only problem I am experiencing is that the cord of my iron occasionally gets snagged in the space between the board and the rack for the iron... if I forget to position it just the right space from my electrical outlet. Yikes, I'm so slow!!

I like your four patches, also the orange one. You are keeping busy!

What a great new ironing board - the feature that holds your iron will be worth it's weight in gold.
