Red Bag

I went out to the studio this morning to work on this wall hanging but it just didn't inspire me for some reason. It seems to lack focus or something. I'm not sure what.
So, when you are at a standstill on a project, what do you do? Well, I make a bag.

This little bag is made out of thrift store upholstery fabric. I am stalled on it for the moment because I need handles. The ones I got last week are a bit too big. I also have to put on the magnetic snaps and sew the top pieces on. I can't sew it together until I get the handles though.
I got the pattern on the internet but I can't remember whose tutorial it was. Whoever it was, if you let me know I'll give you credit on my next post. It's going to be quite a job to sew through all those layers at the top. I may get out my old treadle machine for that. Treadles will sew through anything!

I collect purse patterns from the internet so I'll let you know if I come across the pattern.
Love the wall-hanging in progress...are those bells along the bottom?

love the soft pleats in the bag -- adds not only interst to the outside but space to the inside :-)

Sometimes setting aside a project and waiting until it calls to you is a good thing.

Nice to know that about treadles...I have one in the garage waiting for my Dh to carry into the house!

I think it's not that the project lacks focus, but it lacks a boundary. Try viewing it on a darker surface and see if the addition of something a little less, uh, sherbet-y will make a difference...?

I'm playing "catch up" today...I've been out of touch for over a month. So many beautiful things! I really love the blue Summer piece. And the brown one...and....well, it's all wonderful! And your thrift store finds...awesome.

Yup! When one is not doing it for you, do something different... that is how most UFOs start out! lol!

Lucky you on your fabric win! Good for you! 8-)

I shall have to look for your tool container the next time I am at CT...

Have a good weekend!

Well a big change! You could always hand crank your usual machine through those top layers...although a treadle sounds much more fun :)

I love your little red bag. The fabric is wonderful...as is the pattern! I hope you will be able to share the pattern with the rest of us!
