One More Butterfly to Go

One more butterfly and I will call it a day! I have to admit that I am getting a tiny bit tired of piecing them. It will end up single bed size for sure. I will put on some blue sashing to give the butterflies a bit more room to flutter and then some kind of border. I was thinking white to suggest the sky being lighter as you look up or else a green to suggest leaves and grass. I will have to audition some once all the butterflies are done.
We are having four teenage grandchildren for the weekend so I will probably do more cooking than quilting. The girls love sewing though, so I am sure we will spend some time in the sewing room. It should be fun.

your blocks are wonderful, and with some room to fly I'm sure the butterflies will "sparkle"

"Beautiful"! Wish there was a solution to "getting a teeny bit tired of pieceing them." We are all talented enough to get our blocks together, but that "getting tired" part, or "getting bored with the project", oozes in now and then. Anyway, these blocks are just delightful - so glad you posted them.

Good luck with the teenagers!

So pretty - but I imagine it is getting "old" piecing them. If you really want a quilt for a larger bed you might think about setting them with an alternate block. I can picture them separated by chains of squares that crisscross the quilt. Those kinds of alternate blocks are really easy and fast to piece, and can give you a quilt double the size in no time at all. If you are at all interested let me know and I can email you some more info.

I love the butterflies.
lucky you having 4 GD's who love stitching. I have one and the rest are boys.
Have a great time with them.

Each butterfly is prettier than the last, Joyce! It had to be a great color study for you.

Hope your grands and you had a marvelous weekend!

Wonderful butterflies. I can see how piecing them would get tedious, but the effect is wonderful. I love the fabric you used for the butterfly bodies. Is that one of those William Morris repros?

I LOVE the butterflies. If my daughter has a girl next time, I'm sure she'll get a butterfly quilt!
