New Fabrics

Today is the last day our fabric store will be open, but since we will be busy today, I went for a last splurge yesterday. All the quilting fabric was 60% off so I had to buy quite a bit. How to stop, or maybe why, was the question. I ended up with quite a nice assortment and they will match with what I already bought a few weeks ago. I also bought quite a few spools of thread. They didn't have much left but there was some that matched the purples. It all came to less than $100 so I was pretty happy.
Yesterday I got really tired of looking at the flowered fabric on my patchwork jacket so I took it all apart and removed that fabric. It was the last on so it was not that big a deal to take it off. Then I dyed a piece of cotton that I had on hand to a medium blue. I don't think it will exactly match the blue that is already on the jacket. I ran out of that dye and now I can't remember which one it was. I guess I should keep notes but that is just not my style. Maybe an New Year's Resolution? Anyway, stay tuned for a new look. I just didn't have any enemies bad enough to give it to as Lily suggested so I thought I had better remake it to something I actually like. I already liked everything except the flowers so it seemed sensible to change that.

It's a shame when a LQS closes. I am lucky in that there are at 5 in my area.

Too bad the quilt shop had to close -- looks like you came away with a nice assortment, though.

smart idea taking the fabric you didn't like off the jacket. hope you're happy with the new blue...

and boy, what a steal of a deal re the fabric... too bad you wont be able to go to that LQS anymore, but maybe enough has moved to your stash to soften the blow... :-)

Good buying. Shame the store had to close, but I sure you will lovingly put the fabric to good use! I am so lucky with how many fabric stores are quite close, even though I live in the country.

Looks like you got a lot of very pretty fabric. I hope you still have a shop that isn't that far away for shopping in the future. Absolutely as far as the jacket is concerned - if you don't like it take it off and use something you'll like. It would be a shame not to wear it.

Funny you should mention the floral fabric you didn't like in your jacket. Most of my stash is florals, so when I buy now, which isn't often any more, I tend to go for TOTs. It's always sad when a LQS closes, but good you got some lovely fabrics at a great price.

LOL Joyce I didn't really think you'd have any friends/enemies you didn't like enough!! Very funny :)

I'm sure the jacket will come up a million bucks - good on you for making the decision to pull it apart!

Great buys! What a shame the store is closing, but I'm glad you could help them out!

hi, Joyce, found you on Terry's blog and popped across to visit. I am not a quilter, so my opinion is not an educated one, but I love the jacket! And your snow pix are just FABULOUS!
