Kaliedoscope Number 2

Today I tried to dye a series of grays that went from dark to light for use in the kaleidoscope boxes. I didn't think there was enough variation so I took the darkest and the lightest, added black and voila! It worked.

Here are the hexagons I've made so far. I have three more strips to make into triangles and sew together. The next thing will be to figure out what color to use as a border. Maybe I'll try dyeing something using low water immersion so there will be some texture. But which color? And how many borders?

No clues for your borders, but how impressive it is looking!

Me too...haven't a clue for boarders! I guess you will have to audition a few...
The hexagons look absolutely wonderful Joyce! Something I will have to try at some point! 8-)
Happy stitchings!

Have you decided on border color yet? I often tend to go towards a dark color spectrum for my borders. Perhaps you'll just need to dye a few yards of a few different hues...and audition and pick the one that suits your fancy most. You could always use the leftover ones for backing. Or...another project down the road. ;-)

Keep us posted, Joyce! ;-)

I am taking a class on dying fabrics Wed. What you have done makes me so excited to give it a go. This is going to be another gorgeous quilt. Way to go!
