Buttercup Bag

This is the Buttercup Bag from Made By Rae. It seemed like a perfect project to try out my new piping foot, which worked perfectly. The only thing I would change is that I would use some heavy interfacing on the top piece. The fabric is one of my snow dyes. I may have to wait until next year to do more snow dyes. It looks like the snow is finally leaving us. Nobody is complaining.

Here is a close-up of the piping. I made it from a scrap of fabric that I had on hand. I may add some embellishments but I'm not sure it really needs anything else. But I do have all those beads....

Hi, Joyce -- didn't get blog reading done while away, just catching up. You've been busy as always! Love your red purse, and this one looks so incredibly well made!

Beautifully done, I wonder if those blue beads would compliment this or not?

I just re read your profile and love the quote near the bottom about sliding in sideways yelling Wha Hoo! I'm in for the good ride too! ;-)

I have been experimenting with my sewing machine feet in different applications. I love the edge stitching foot for stitch-in-the-ditch applications. I have a piping foot and need to see what other ways I can use it.

This is a perfect application for the snow dyes! And that piping!!! What a smooth looking seam and line. Are you finding it much easier to work with than the zipper foot was?

When machine quilting a client's quilt awhile back...I noticed that the piping was much easier to stitch in the ditch than a zinger. I was surpised...that's not what I was expecting.
