Tea Cosy

Yesterday we took our show down. Waiting for me at the gallery was this beautiful selvage tea cozy created by Brenda from Scraps and Strings.

She knows of my love for rick rack and included this in the bag of goodies. Thanks Brenda.

Here is the next variation on Stormy Weather. I searched through my hand dyes and found one that looked a bit like water sluicing down. I also found a cache of pearl drop beads that may look enough like raindrops. The strip on the right looks a bit more like a sunset in real life. The part that looks white is actually a light yellow. I may be tempted to darken it with Shiva paintsticks. I tried for a sliver of a moon in the same style as the lightning bolt but I'm not really happy with it. I may have to resort to applique.

You're welcome. some of that rick rack is even "vintage". I like the line: "resort to applique". It's not my first choice of technique either, but actually I quite like it when I get down to it.

Nice tea cozy! I hope the whole show was a good experience, and that you're not too sad to see it taken down. I like the look of the moon side, but I have to agree that it doesn't look like a moon.

I like this stormy weather better than the version with the rickrack. I like the moon, too. The story is developing!
