New Fabric and Book

On Friday Brenda and Du asked us if we wanted to go to Grand Forks with them for the day on Saturday. I said only if they were willing to stop at Joanne's Fabrics. (What else would a quilter say?) They agreed so we went on Saturday afternoon and here is the result. They only had one rotary blade left or I would have gotten several because they were 40% off as were most of the fabrics. I got blue backing for the latest quilt and some dark brown that is the same as the braid quilt I made before going on holidays. I got the last of the bolt but I doubt that it is enough to back the quilt. I will put a piece of something else in the middle if it isn't because I really like the back of a quilt to match the front. I got a selection of black and whites too because I want to build up my B&W stash.
I also picked up this book about sewing strips and curves with my 40% off coupon that I got in the mail. I actually had to dig to the bottom of my garbage bag to get it because it was finished today and we had absolutely no plans to go to USA in the forseeable future. Luckily, it has been too windy to burn garbage.

I love the selection of B&W you found -- the geometirc especially. I'm off to minot over the long weekend, so will have to see what they have:-)

How do you get Joanne coupons? I seem to be going often enough to almost seek such out now...

I love using my 40% off coupons for books too. Can't beat that bargain!

Love your black/whites! I can see a couple of those over-dyed...at least a portion of them. I had a little fun awhile ago...over-dyeing a dotty white-on-white. Very cute!

It is so nice to have a collection of black and white fabric. I bought some on sale in Portland. That looks like a good book - very nice quilt on the cover - a quilt that would be fun to make.

Love the spring quilt!!

Very nice blacks and whites. I've been building my stash of those, too. And you found 'my' fabric! The black with the white dots is what I'm planning to use as background in one of my quilts.

Let us know what you think of the book - I'm always interested in new books, though I haven't been buying as many techique books lately...

I just got that book a couple months ago because it was marked down on Amazon. I wasn't going to buy it but I'm glad I did because it has a couple ideas that work with the original Strips and Curves. I have 30 blocks made from the first book and wasn't happy with them. Now I have found the fix for them in this book.

I have the same book but have no immediate plans to use it. It looks interesting, though.

I adore those blacks and white. The ones at the top look a bit William Morris'ish.

Looking forward to seeing what yo udo withe strips and curves.

Us Canadians just love those fabric forays into the USA! If you ever get to San Diego, but sure to visit Rosie's. She has whole rooms dedicated to various fabric themes! Plan to be there for hours and have a buying plan!

Also, I am buying lots of fabric online from http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/ The prices were good before our dollar took flight. They ship in small parcels so we don't contend with custom fees. Lovely stuff.

I'm looking forward to what you do with the B&W and this book too.

Your spring quilt is gorgeous! I will definitely have to keep that pattern in mind for my scraps and make one of these. Are they one inch and two inch rectangles?

I went to Joanns sale too - everything I wanted was on sale at 40% off so my coupon was worthless.
