A Productive Day

Today I got the huge queen sized quilt loaded on the frame and a couple of rows stitched. Everything is humming along nicely so far. Fingers crossed.

I also cut out a bunch of the kaleidoscope blocks from the new book. They are all cut from the dragon fabric that I got at Blue Bamboo in Minneapolis. I sewed together some of them. In the picture I left a space on the gray one to show that they are not sewn down the middle so that when assembling the quilt, there will be no set-in seams. I will probably go back to Elmer's school glue again because all those middle seams are bias and very prone to stretching. I haven't spent any time yet on the arrangement and will also try a few of the boxes that are illustrated in the book. My favorite block so far is the one in the middle with a lot of white on it.

Isn't it fun to see how different each block turns out :-) I think I like the middle one best too -- a little more contrast going then some of the others...

I had to search your blog to find out what you meant by using Elmer's Glue - you mean that you just glue along the bias edges and let it dry?

Please tell me (us?) more... this is just TOO interesting!

I love how these blocks are turning out! What a gorgeous fabric. I love this technique because you just never know what your blocks are going to look like.

Oooh! That fabric was just destined to be cut up soon and assembled into something superb! Very nice, Joyce!

This is my favorite block to make: a kaleidescope made of 60 degree triangles. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I like those! And I love the glue idea for tricky places. I did what t did and googled your blog to learn about it. Very clever!
