Gentleman Friend?

Or live-in-Lover?? This bird is very tipsy. He only stands reluctantly and for a short time before he topples over. Does he tipple before he topples? Probably. I tried to give him feathery legs like a rooster but they seem to be sadly sagging. Perhaps also as a result of his tipping or tippling.
He is slightly related to the other birds. If you look carefully you can see that the undersides of his wings are the same fabric as the other birds' wings. They are all family.

Here they are, all together having a good gossip session. I'm going to find a nice branch for them all to perch on.
And now on to something more serious like washing out some new hand dyes.

These are so much fun. What have you been feeding them to be so tipsy? I have a collection of chickens on top of my kitchen cabinets. One of these would fit right in.

These three are adorable. They will look great on a branch together.

I keep telling Nellie I will make one of these someday.....but still have not. I think I am just going to set the time aside to make a few. You have inspired me.

Now, that's a fine cockadoodle doo!
All 3 of your birds are now in the Picasa bird album which is accessible in the sidebar of my blog.

I've been meaning to ask Nellie or you if these colourful cuties leave any interesting droppings?
I imagine they might be quite jewel like.

Hi Joyce

I know what you mean about the wire for the legs - some of mine are a bit fragile but I have (I think!) come up with a solution. I have used 18# paper covered cake decoratoring wire for the legs and 20# of the same for the feet - the 18 was too difficult to bend easily whilst the 20 is not quite sturdy enough for the legs. These are UK sizes so not sure if they differ elsewere. I painted mine with acrylic paints and then covered with free machine satin stitch in metallic thread. Shelley
