New House

I have had a lot of help from bloggers on the mistake that I wrote about yesterday. The most common suggestion, which I will probably do, is to make more blue patches, or even many colors to make it look like it is a design thing. Great idea! Much better than ripping out.
On the New Year's Resolution front, aside from the general eat better, exercise more, lose weight, etc. which everyone makes and almost no one keeps, my resolution is one of Freddy Moran's rules. Never point out your mistakes. It is a bad habit I have. Totally not necessary or useful. The exception to that rule for me will be on my blog. There I get helpful advice, as in yesterday's post.

Meanwhile, I have made one new house and several trees for my forest. What can be more fun than that?

I love your resolution! Its one I know I could stand to adpt :-). Your houses and trees are working out really well. I like the "off balance" nature of the rooves. Have you thought about a really "unlevel" or crooked roof, or are you planning on sticking to this "wonky but not wild"?

Joyce, I love what you're doing and I love just about anything Freddy Moran says. Her messages are so self-affirming. Not only should we not point out our mistakes (unless we're looking for advice), I don't think we should be quick to apologize for our work. At the risk of sounding self-promoting, I wrote a post on Julia Child's sentiments, that you might find interesting:

(Note: there's no break between the / and 2006. I had to break it to get it to fit in the comment box.)

Love the houses! And the trees! the whole idea of that quilt is great.

Think the ideas about no ripping are wise!

Thanks for visiting my blog Joyce. I have already shown my husband your comment re: staying in NY over the Christmas/New Year period. I love what you have written in your profile of using all that you have before you move on - leaving anything left for others means you haven't tried hard enough!

I love seeing your houses/trees come together! And I agree about not pointing out mistakes, especially to non-quilter's - BUT getting advise from other Blogger's is different!

Cheers!

Evelyn

Good on you Joyce! I am so glad you decided not to rip! And with the quilt you're making I don't think you could use too many different colours! Use more! Go crazy on the bobbin threads selection!

Love the trees too :)

those house blocks are coming along nicely. So glad you have decided not unpick your quilting on the butterfly quilt.

I do so agree with you about pointing out our mistakes and apologizing for our work. I have always done it. Bad habit.
I'm going to read Jane Ann's post now.
