Apron

Here is the apron made from a square of the orange '70's fabric. It is basically a square with the top corner turned down. The one I saw had a pocket in the middle done the same way as the apron but I didn't want to spoil the look of the big flowers. I guess I could have put the pocket on the other side. It is completely reversible.

I dropped in at a different thrift shop today and found these thimbles in a bag for 25 cents. Do I need thimbles? No, I don't even like doing hand sewing that much. Could I leave them there? No way. There are a couple of them that are huge, even too big for my thumb. I have quite small fingers but really, I don't know who would be able to use the biggest one. Maybe that's why it looks like new.

I made an apron using some old fabric in those very colors about 2 years ago. It has fish on it. I added some rickrack to the edges. I love it because I just am not a neat cook. *sigh*. I started collecting thimbles many years ago. I found that the old hot type trays work well to display them on the wall.

Thimbles? Did you say thimbles? What a lucky find! And the apron is adorable -- very 70's and fun!

Love the apron, a really bright success!
Those thimbles would have called me too. I wonder if sailors used thimbles? I do believe they did a lot of mending & maintenance of the sails? Just a thought as to why there would be such a large sized thimble.

I love your apron! It's very cute! I've got to show my Mom your picture. Every year for the past 4 or 5 years...she's been making us girls aprons for Christmas. And now she's got lots of granddaughters who are getting into the apron stage of life...so she's always on the look-out for cute patterns. Thanks for sharing that, Joyce!

Nice Apron! I'm with you on the thimbles. I couldn't have left them there either. At a guess I'd say the one with the indent on the top would make a good quilting thimble where are the others look like sewing thimbles.

Now that's a 'mod' apron *s*

those thimbles are quite the find! I have great difficulty finding large enough thimbles so the big ones might be from my family :-)

such a clever apron pattern and I love the fabric - the biggest thimble must be a giants thimble :o)

Love the apron Joyce. And I wouldn't have been able to leave those thimbles behind either! We are stopping by our favorite thrift shop this morning. I can hardly wait!
