Options

I have started a black and white wall hanging and so far these are the options I have.

I will probably go with the rick rack on this one. I'm not sure whether I like the darker strips or the bright ones in the previous picture. I want to leave tails of rick rack hanging down, possibly with beads or bells attached.
Any opinions out there? Come on all you lurkers!

I love your use of rick rack.

I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy seeing your wall hangings in progress.

I definately like the flow of the second one better.

I like the colours and the contrast, but the sides are too symetrical for my taste. the rick rack is fun too.

for what its worth I prefer the bright strips -- the jngle print with frogs is just too identifiable whereas the rest is colour...

mum stop calling me a lurker! lol

i love all your new work - it's so you!

i think a way to decide what is working is do like dad does when he's painting and step away and squint. look for a balance in colour and pattern... do the 1/3 3/4 thing or half half - depends on what kind of style.

or maybe think of your inspiration and have a theme. like some of them really remind me of kimonos (the blue one and the brown one) . others are more like children's banners (the pink one) and this last one reminds me of a harlequin!

on this one i like the first one too i think. i think that quilt pixie has it right here...save the jungle print for a different project...

k gotta go!

... but after having a second look, i agree with the others that the flow works better on the second one too - the pink is too bright... maybe just find some dark pattern like you have but one that's not so obviously the jungle print? or maybe say that its a theme about progress versus nature a- the black and white is the urban jungle encroaching on the narrow strip of nature in the middle that has been divided by a road.
lol
i like it all...
