What I Did Today
I finished quilting this one and added the binding. Now I just have to hand sew the binding down. You can see how the circles are a bit puffy in this photo. I hope they puff out even more after washing. I decided to keep this one totally black and white so the binding is black.
I can't leave well enough alone, so this one now has an extra black strip on each side, at Meggie's suggestion . I took off the tassel and added other elements from the same necklace as the gold tassel was taken from. I'm thinking that the orange rick rack is a bit too strong but I don't have enough of the brown. Maybe I'll look for some lighter colored, finer rick rack in either purple or pale yellow. I'm feeling happier about this one now. It feels more finished with the extra black border.

I love the dimension of those ciricles!
I do like the puffiness. I love textural art and this qualifies.
The black puffy circle are so different, I never saw anything like that. very nice
OH WOW, love it love it..you are so talented and creative Joyce.... wow...
I agree the black and white with the wonderful circles really is a knock out-well done.
The piece with the tassels has turned out very interesting. So oriental looking.
That second piece looks more finished and polished now-good job!
The circles kill me-very, very textural (kind of like a man hole cover or caution bumps on the roadway) and they totally transformed that piece. Again, good job!
Your Black & White Circles turned out very retro looking! Reminds me of '60s PopArt! Groovy, baby!
The orange rick rack on your black border is a bit too halloweeny to me. I would opt for another color or tone down the subliminal suggestion with a bead at each rick rack point in another color-maybe purple.
I love the puffiness. It was the first thing I noticed. Good for you. The wall hangings are great. I wish I had more wall space to hang a art quilt like this.
The circles look fabulous! Pop over to my blog and you'll have a nice surprise.
Ooooooo puffy circles! Awesome Joyce!
Your other wall-quilt there looks "done" to me... Looks good! 8-)
Both pieces look wonderful. The puffy circles are great - as is the black border on the other piece.
The puffu circles are really unusual and effective. I like the extra black strip, it really works well.
I love your circles of puff!
Also love the black outer borders on the wall piece.
Such interesting things you make!
"Evolver" came out fantastic! It is truly an hierloom piece. Great job
