You will use up your last spool of the color you are quilting with on the last pass. Since this is a donation quilt I finished up with a slightly different shade of burgundy rather than wait until I get back to town to purchase another spool of the original color.
The bobbin will run out with only inches left to quilt.
I did manage to finish it. I quilted with a loose meander. I sewed the binding to the back, turned it to the front and sewed it down with a zigzag stitch.

I've been a victim of Murphy's law so many times, it isn't funny. But you soldier'd on and finished your project. How sweet of you to make this quilt for donation.
That happened to me this afternoon. On the last 6 inches of binding and the bobbin ran out. Luckily for me I knew it would so wound another one before I started sewing. Not like a long arm I know, but still Murphy's Law.
You amaze me Joyce! Quilt done in what? Five days!?! Wow! 8-)
I England we call that sod's law, with exactly the same meaning. It's awful when it happens, but you didn't let it get you down. I'm proud of you. A woman after my own heart.
Yes it always happens. I have been sewing on binding and reached the end with about a 6 inch gap.
Even with the snafu, the quilt turned out super. I am sure it will be a welcome addition to someone's household in this cold winter!
I think you've just defined 'Quilter's Law' Joyce :)
good thing you know how to fix things, uh!? Wow...nice finish. Very nice.
