I am trying to make sourdough bread. I have to say that, although it looks fine, it smells terrible. The problem is that I'm not sure how it should smell. Like rotten old socks? Like mouldy flour paste? Hmm....
Here is the back of the purple table runner all quilted. Now I need to make some binding and attach it.
This is post number 994 so I suppose I should start thinking about a prize draw for the 1000th. Stay tuned.

I suspect it should smell a little strange - but the end result is so yummy!
yes and yes. I've heard it could drive you out of the house!
My sour dough always smells like beer.

;-) I'm chuckling about your bread. I guess I never even thought about what sour dough bread might smell like...I just love the taste after the baking, I guess! I'm sure since you're doing it, it's got to be correct.
You made fast work of the table runner...looks great! Valentine-ish?!
Stay warm!
I've never had luck making sourdough bread, as I'm never home enough to keep the starter fed. I'll be eager to hear how yours turns out.
I love the back of your quilted piece....often I love the backs of pieces as much as the fronts!
Stay warm!

Can't really help you when it comes to making bread. I've never made any kind, much less sourdough! But the back of the table runner?...I CAN say something to that.....WOW!!!!!
My hubby who makes sourdough a lot was slightly offended when I asked what it smelt of????? He says it has a particular odour but not unpleasant!
I make sourdough bread often - it does have a unique scent and maybe, like Vickie said, a little like beer. But not unpleasant at all. blessings, marlene
