Moon and Stars Quilt
I finished sewing down the binding on this quilt this morning. It is about 55 inches by 70 inches. Every block is cut from a piece of my hand dyed fabric. The sashing is also hand dyed. I thought the sashing looked too dark so I used paintsticks to stencil on some moons and stars. Then I quilted it with silver thread in a loose meander pattern.
The back is a large piece of fabric that is snow dyed. I have explained this process in previous blog posts. It is a perfect quilt for relaxing under at the end of a Yoga session.
I am entering it in this online contest over at Gen X Quilters. You can go to the contest by clicking on the Love Nest Quilt Contest icon on the side bar.
Drop over for a visit and vote on your favorite quilt.

It turned out great. The snow dying really gives a different look than regular dying, nice and patterned.
Wow, this looks great! Love that snow dyed backing too.
Oh congratulations! It's stunning. I'm impressed with how you did the sashing. You know, with the paint sticks and all. That's really neat!!!!!!!!!
I like the way this turned out, Joyce. I liked it before you started putting the stars on, and wasn't sure about that, but you were right! Good job.
Not 'cause you're my new blogland friend but I like yours the best. That's so far at least, and it's certainly not that there aren't a couple of close runner-ups.
Looks good Joyce. Will definitely check out the contest site...good luck!
I learn so much every day from reading blog posts. Your quilt is so pretty and you dyed your ow fabrics, WOW!
Wow, what a stunning quilt! And the fabrics you dye are just amazing!
This is a gorgeous quilt! I love it! The fabrics are amazing!
Oooh! LOVEly. I am afraid I would probably quarrel with myself on which side to enjoy more...the backside or the front. ;-)
Would you please remind us again as to the dates when we can vote please, Joyce? You know how easily things like that can come and go...and I'd LOVE to vote for you!
Bravo Joyce! Good on you with your finish, AND entering into an online contest!!!
How neat! A quilt all made of fabrics you've had a hand in dyeing... 8-)
Wow - I am impressed! I cannot get over those who can not only quilt/piece great designs, but dyeing your own fabric too! Art at it's best!
Thanks for entering your quilt in the Love Nest Quilt Contest and best of luck to you!
