A Fungly Finish

Sorry that this is not a very good picture but you've all seen it in progress at least 8 times. I finished sewing down the binding on our way home from Winnipeg this morning. It is a two hour drive each way (but I drove on the way in and I haven't mastered sewing while driving yet) and I finished it just as we got home. Good timing! Of course, I still have to label it. There has been some discussion as to when a quilt is finished and I say it's when the binding is sewn down. The label, not so much.
I have had a lot of response about my problem on the border of my last quilt. I'll be sewing on an applique of some kind. Stay tuned.

Nice! Let me know if you work out the driving/sewing thing- I could get a lot more done...

You know, with all the babbling I do here in the comments, I'm not sure if I've actually said it - I love this quilt. It truly is a happy quilt, and a real illustration of the sum being greater than its parts (or whatever that saying is!).

You've done a great job on it!

(Did it deplete your scrap pile at all?)

Out of all the Funglies I seen in blogland this has got to be one of the best. Joyce it really is amazing.

It's gorgeous! Love the bright orange. It really makes the quilt pop!

I do believe that perhaps this quilt of yours can no longer be titled "Fungly." It is all FUN and not a thread of ugly. I just plain love it! Well done, Joyce!

It has been proven here, an ugly fabric is only ugly by itself. When it joins other fabrics it is just a player along with the rest.

A wonderful fungly indeed Joyce!!! Stitching in the car!?! Lucky you! I've tried, but it just doesn't work for me! I get sickish... nor can I read in the car!
Do you know quilt teacher Marilynn Weibe? (my first quilting teacher) She has made whole pieced quilts in the car just traveling back and forth to the lake in summer. Keeps the project in a shoe box under the seat. I was totally in wow of that! 8-)
Happy stitchings!

I agree -- once the binding is finished, the quilt is done. Labels are a sometime thing. This was really fun, and I loved watching it in progress.

I just LOVE that quilt....and I'm so happy to hear that you aren't driving and applying binding at the same time!

Congrats on the finish! It looks great. I consider binding as the finishing point usually too, even though I have learned - the hard way - the value of applying a label shortly after finishing the quilt.
