Back At It
I am back at the Mocha quilt after a very quiet and pleasant NYE and New Years Day. I have assembled half the triangle blocks.
Later: I just noticed that one of the top middle blocks is on sideways. Good thing it's not sewn down yet.
They are the most difficult to get right but I have been helped by a couple of new tools. I read on one of the blogs that Creative Grids rulers are the best to be had. They are also quite hard to find unless you order online. However, I noticed the lady at Rae-Bon was using one to cut our fabric. I asked her if she liked it and she loved it. They had them for sale so I got one. The bonus was that my SIL threw it in with the fabric. It is as good as I heard it was. It doesn't slip at all and has the lines in black and white so it's easy to read. It helped with accurate cutting which helps with accurate piecing. The Quilt Police would be proud!
I also invested in some Best Press, which I also read about online. It's easier to work with on all the bias seams in the triangular pieces than glue and much lighter than normal starch. The bonus is that it has a wonderful lavendar smell so I am getting aroma therapy at the same time as my quilting therapy.
In the background, you can see why I am working inside rather than being outside. At -25 it seems to be a good time to enjoy the studio.

Mocha is looking yummy! I was interested in reading your 'review' of the creative grid rulers and best press. I had seen them at Fargo's ISQSC in late September but didn't know anyone who tried either product.
If you love Abba music and are in the mood for a lighthearted movie than I heartily reccommend renting Mama Mia!
Mocha looking tasty! I can't get my head around -25 !
your quilt is coming along quite fast and awesome , love the new must have gadget, I'll have to go looking for some too... thanks for the info and inspiration..and I agree , inside is a good thing right now lol...happy stitching
I see you have a little suction handle on your ruler. Does that help it stay in place? I'll have to see what my rulers are called. I have at least two types, one with black and white marks that I love, and one with yellow marks that I hate.
that quilt is looking wonderful! Love how the colours are playing off each other.
Ah...I see you've got snow blown into your windows too?!
You sure you want to make such fast progress with their quilt?! You're making this quilting thing look way too easy! lol It's looking terrific!
All that snow! Yes, i can see there wouldn't be much choice other than sewing!
Love the progress...great little singer find as well, Tracey
