Here is a colse up of some of the fabrics in an antique Double Wedding Ring I am quilting. I found it in a trunk at my Dad's place. He has no idea who pieced it. He does remember the names of every horse he ever drove in his 92 years and that is a LOT of horses. I guess you remember what you're interested in! I think it was pieced in the 1930's by my mother before she married. It could have been my grandmother even earlier. It is not very well pieced so I think it was done by a young person. Luckily, that matches my quilting which is not very well done either. It is an interesting array of fabrics.

Oh wow what a find and a treasure. What an amazing heirloom to discover. Even though you say the piecing is not very good, the fabrics are really effective and it looks just beautiful.

LOL at your quilting not being very good. I am sure it's better than mine!!!!

I was thinking, you know who would know who made the quilts? Darianne. I'm sure gramma showed Cher, Darianne and I them once when we were rummaging through the treasures in the trunk and she said they were by our great gramma, but I'm not sure. I don't think she did them though. I thought there were three of them? Anyway, I would ask Darianne, cos she might remember Gramma talking about them...

There were three of them. The fan quilt I already quilted and gave back to Grampa. The other one is a Grandmother's Flower Garden made with hexagons. I'll post a picture of it sometime.

I love the boys quilt!!! I also love the story of your dad, what a hoot. I am somewhat like that, I have selective memory.

I'm glad the wedding ring quilt is in good hands now, and being quilted. :) Hope you can find out who pieced it!

And welcome to Mavericks.
